Portrait Results and Next Week's Plans

Thursday night saw the much-anticipated judging of our Portrait Competition, with Peter Wells taking on the challenge of selecting winners from a truly outstanding set of images.

For me, a great judging session is one where you learn something new and have a laugh along the way—and Peter certainly delivered on both fronts! His insightful critiques and engaging commentary made for an enjoyable evening while also helping us see our work from a fresh perspective.

With such a strong collection of portraits, narrowing down the best was no easy task. A huge well done to everyone who entered and an even bigger congratulations to those who placed!

The winning images will be showcased on our website soon, so stay tuned.

Next week’s meeting features an event organised by our Chair, Richard, as part of the club’s annual programme. This session will be split into two parts.

Part 1: Understanding Photographic Distinctions

Richard will guide us through the various photographic distinctions available, explaining what they are, the requirements for achieving them, and offering valuable tips and advice for anyone considering embarking on this journey. Whether you're curious about accreditation or already working towards a distinction, this session will be full of useful information.

Part 2: Exhibition Update & Exploring DxO Software

The second half of the evening will provide an update on our Annual Exhibition preparations, ensuring everyone is up to speed with the latest plans. We’ll also take a look at DxO software, which the club has secured a discount on—offering a great opportunity for members to explore its potential benefits for their photography.
